How we price
Prices you can check for yourself
Pantri prices your shopping list at Coles, Woolworths and ALDI. Every total says how many of your items it covers, and every price says when we checked it. Here’s how that works, and what we do when a price is out of date.
- Checked every week
- Nothing older than two weeks
- Coverage on every total
Shopping list
41 items from this week’s 7 dinners
The shops we price
We price three supermarkets: Coles, Woolworths and ALDI. We use the prices each shop publishes online, for the products we match to your list.
Updates after each weekly check.
We don’t price other shops yet, and prices aren’t specific to your postcode or local store.
Checked every Wednesday
Coles and Woolworths start their weekly specials on Wednesday, so that’s when we check. If a check doesn’t finish, we try again on Thursday.
Wednesday: we check
We read current prices at Coles, Woolworths and ALDI.
Your list: we match
Each item on your list is matched to a product at each shop. Every price shows the shop and the day we checked it, like “Coles, checked 7 Oct”.
Two weeks on: we take it off
A price we haven’t checked again within two weeks comes off your list until the next check.
Nothing older than two weeks
We never show a price more than 14 days old. Two weeks allows for one missed weekly check, not two.
An old price is worse than no price. Specials end every week, so an old special can make a shop look lower than it is.
Every total shows what it covers
Not every shop stocks everything, and we can’t match every item. So each total says how many of your items it covers, like “for 38 of your 41 items”. Each total covers different items, so read the coverage next to the figure.
If a shop has prices for fewer than 6 in 10 of your items, we don’t put its total next to the others. We show what we have instead, in words.
We don’t crown a shop. We put the totals side by side, with what each one covers, and you choose where to shop.
What this list costs
Example dataWoolworths has prices for fewer than 6 in 10 items here, so its total isn’t shown next to the others.
When a shop’s prices are out of date
Sometimes a weekly check fails. If a shop’s newest prices pass two weeks, we take that shop out of your totals and say so in words. We never fill the gap with a made-up or zero total.
Here’s your list if ALDI’s prices are more than two weeks old:
Shopping list
41 items from this week’s 7 dinners
ALDI prices are more than two weeks old, so they are not shown.
While a shop is out, our website and app say so, and we don’t claim more shops than we can price that week. When a fresh check lands, the shop comes back.
What we can’t promise
The shelf price on the day can be different from the one we checked. Specials end, prices change during the week, and some stores price differently. That’s why every price carries its date, and why your list says in-store prices may differ.
Prices aren’t specific to your postcode or local store yet.
Questions
About the prices on your list.
Why does each shop’s total cover different items?
Not every shop stocks everything, and we can’t match every item on your list to a product. Each total says how many of your items it covers, like “for 38 of your 41 items”. A total that covers fewer items can look lower than it is, so read the coverage next to the figure.
Why is a shop missing from my list?
Either its prices are more than two weeks old, or it has prices for too few of your items to compare. Your list says which, in words, under the totals.
Are these the prices at my local store?
Not yet. We use the prices each shop publishes online, which aren’t specific to your postcode. The price in your local store can be different.
Do you include specials?
Yes. If a product was on special when we checked, we show the special price with its date. Specials change every week, so check the date next to the price.
Does it cost anything to see prices?
No. Planning, the shopping list and prices are free. No credit card.
